Hi friends! My name is Kirby and I am the mom to two amazing little boys, Jayden is now eight and Jaxon is six. I also have a bonus daughter Kayla who is eighteen and just started her college career.
My son Jayden was diagnosed with Autism at two years and four months old. I was pregnant with Jaxon when I received Jayden’s diagnosis and Jaxon was born prematurely two months later.
I was living in a blur for quite a few years.
I was swimming and trying to navigate through all things Autism without any sort of map.
I was trying to figure it all out while at the same time trying to raise my newborn son and manage my toddler who needed tons of support.
Insanity does not begin to cover how crazy many days were in the early years after diagnosis for our family.
I immersed myself in researching everything I could about Autism.
I was scared that one day I would be told my youngest son also had Autism. However, I quickly learned Jaxon was completely “typical” in every way.
Autism has put us in category I never wanted to be a part of honestly. I knew nothing about the special needs world and now that is my world.
I have found my tribe.
I am proud to be a part of this community.
It took me a while to come to terms with the fact that the picture-perfect life I imagined would now be so different than I ever expected it to be. But today I feel lucky and hopeful for the future because I have let go of every expectation I had.
It was not easy to let go of the family I pictured but the freedom I gained in letting go has been unmatched.
I started this page to bring awareness and support to Autism families, and share the information I have learned in the last six years.
I hope to help bridge the gap between Autism and the rest of the world.
I hope to support and give hope to the parents that are embracing Autism with me or even the ones still figuring it out.
I bring Autism awareness with me wherever I go and I hope to increase the Acceptance of Autism throughout this world.
I hope to bring Autism parents together.
I hope to share valuable resources with the struggling families that need help in the fight for services, or on the hunt for available resources.
This journey is not an easy one and my biggest wish for this page is to let each and every Autism family know that you are not alone, you never are.
I was a mom struggling to accept Autism and navigate our new world without any sort of road map but it launched me into the career I have today.
I am a passionate, Special Education Advocate, and I could never see myself doing anything else.
Welcome to our community, this is a place where we can all come laugh, share resources, get support in the world of special needs parenting.
